On May 5, 2023, in the afternoon, Researcher Wu Xianman, former Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, was invited to the School of Finance and Economics for academic exchange. Secretary Wang Xiang and Professor Chen Haibo, Deputy Dean of the school, received Researcher Wu Xianman.
Researcher Wu Xianman delivered an academic lecture titled 'The Glorious Mission and Financial Support for Jiangsu's Leading Role in Basic Modernization.' Professor Chen Haibo chaired the academic lecture and discussion. Over 60 faculty members and students from the School of Finance and Economics and the School of Management attended the lecture and the subsequent discussion.
Researcher Wu Xianman previously served as a member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Social Sciences. He is the founder and first Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Institute of Finance, a senior expert consultant committee member, a secondary-level researcher in economics, and a doctoral supervisor in finance. In 2006, he was awarded the title of Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Expert in Jiangsu Province. He currently serves as a member of the Decision-Making Advisory Expert Pool of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Chief Expert of the Jiangsu Modernization Research Institute in Regional Development, and the Vice President and Secretary-General (legal representative) of the Jiangsu Provincial Economic Society.
He has been engaged in long-term research in the fields of socialist economics and finance, focusing on economic development strategies, regional economics, and financial development and reform. He has been the principal investigator of numerous important research projects funded by national and provincial social science foundations, as well as projects commissioned by the Central Propaganda Department. He has authored over 300 papers published in journals such as 'Chinese Social Sciences,' 'Guangming Daily,' 'Economic Daily,' 'Financial Times,' and 'Jianghai Academic Journal,' and has published more than 40 monographs, co-authored books, and edited volumes. His work has earned him several provincial and ministerial-level awards, including first, second, and third prizes for outstanding social science achievements and 'Five-One Project' awards for spiritual civilization construction. Over 40 of his research achievements have received important instructions from senior leaders of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, and two of them have been submitted for consideration in central leadership research and decision-making.
