On May 20, 2019, Professor Yang Hong of University College of London gave a special academic lecture entitled "Exploration of water-food-energy-carbon nexus" in the conference room of School of Finance and Economics. The lecture was hosted by Professor Hu Xuhua, Executive Vice President of the Institute of Industry Research. Teachers, undergraduates, postgraduates and international students from the School of Finance and Economics and the School of Management attended the lecture and had a warm exchange with Professor Yang Hong.

In the lecture, Professor Yang Hong elaborated on the relationship among water, food, energy and carbon. Taking the carbon emissions of hydropower stations as an example, he explained that non-fossil energy, traditionally believed, could also bring about environmental problems.
