On May 22, Professor Geng Yong, dean of the School of Environment of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a doctoral supervisor, was invited to give an academic lecture entitled "Green Industry Development under the New Crown Epidemic" in the 1301 lecture hall of Sanjiang Building of our school. The lecture was hosted by Professor Zhang Jijian, Vice President of Jiangsu University. Teachers and students from the School of Finance and Economics, the School of Management and the School of Science listened to the lecture.

Against the background of the sudden new crown epidemic, Professor Geng Yong elaborated on how China develops green industries and promotes the construction of ecological civilization, and discussed the transition path of China's economic low-carbon development from the perspective of transportation, power and industrial carbon emissions. It analyzes the environmental industry and new energy automobile industry opportunities brought by the epidemic, and provides a clear direction for Chinese companies to better green transition.

Professor Geng Yong is the winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund. He was selected as the 2013 National Outstanding Youth Fund for Outstanding Achievements, the 20th Anniversary of the National Outstanding Youth Fund and the National Fund for Outstanding Achievements in the Twelfth Five-Year Plan. His graduated doctors have successively won the Chinese Academy of Sciences Hundred Excellent Doctoral Dissertations Award, the Dean's Special Award and the Zhu Li Yuehua Scholarship. In 2013 and 2014, he was continuously rated as an outstanding tutor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. At the same time, Professor Geng is the Lead Author for the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He also served as an expert on the "Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production" project of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, a solid waste management expert at the United Nations Regional Development Center, and a visiting researcher at the United Nations University Institute for Advanced Study. He has published more than 260 SCI/SSCI articles in international academic journals including "SCIENCE" and "NATURE", nearly 200 EI-searched articles, with a total of more than 13,000 citations, and more than 30 ESI highly cited papers.
